We are seeking a Corporate Legal Counsel fluent in Korean, initially based in Singapore, with relocation to South Korea. Job description
In your new role you will:
- Primarily responsible for agreements/legal advice in sales/marketing/distribution, procurement, real estate and labour law in Korea
- Primary point of contact for Compliance-related matters/processes in Korea & responsible to ensure conformance to compliance-relevant laws/regulations/rules/guidelines (statutory and internal)
- Provide legal & compliance training in Korean language to relevant business stakeholders
- Support agreements/legal advice in other countries in AP region(sales/marketing/distribution, procurement, real estate, labour law,intellectual property, data protection, corporate secretarial, M&A/JVs,post-mergers integrations, as assigned)
Your Profile
You are best equipped for this task if you have:
- Qualified as a lawyer in South Korea
- Fluency in English & Korean languages are required
- 8-10 years relevant professional experience, of which 3 years must be in-house, and significant experience of working with Korean customers/suppliers/partners is required.
- Legal skills: Strong understanding of commercially-related legal principles and concepts and good standard of contract drafting skills and commercial negotiation skills are required. Must be able to organize and explain risk/liability concepts and issues, or statutory requirements, to business stakeholders. Working knowledge of compliance/antitrust and labour laws in Korea is also required.Knowledge/experience in other legal areas (eg. corporate secretarial,IP, litigation or M&A) is an advantage.
- Business/commercial/soft skills: Must have initiative, commercial acumen, and have a deep understanding of contractual/governance risksand concerns and be able to balance those with business needs and strategic decisions. Must have good analytical, client–oriented and communication skills and be able to handle medium to complex legal questions in commercial legal topics.
